The artLA exhibitor list is up. In other fair news both Pulse and Scope will be holding fairs during the Armory Fair and for the first time Scope will be moving out of the Hotel room set up and move to a real fair type set up. Word on the street is that they are really trying to recruit a solid LA contingency for the big weekend in NYC. Are you going? ...

For those of you jonesing for an art opening have no fear. Tomorrow night you can go celebrate the winter solstice with BC Space in Laguna. They'll be having an opening for their current show For Shame. Looks like it'll start at sundown and run till they get tired. Many artists will be participating I'm sure. Check it out. ...

Some of you may remember my Laguna Art Museum Auction Post where I told you I picked up a piece called "City Escape" (see photo) by an artist named Leigh Peffer. At the time Mrs. OCArtBlog and I didn't know anything about the artist but liked the photo so we made a winning bid. Anyway, I was just notified by artist Janice Tieken that Leigh is actually in a show currently at the Riverside Art Museum titled Nevermore. The show runs until Jan. 7th...

Sorry no posts for awhile. Typepad was down and actually I was kinda happy about that because I really don't have anything to report as we head into the Holiday's. So I thought in my boredom I would bore you too and give you an art tour of where I spend my days. If you go to the collecting archive you can get a pretty good idea of what I have hanging at home but I'm sure at least one of you (my mom maybe)...

Thanks to Radha over at The Art Hub for giving me a heads-up about their big event this weekend. Friday night the Art Hub will be hosting Rock Stars & Pin-Ups, a solo photo exhibit by Maggie St. Thomas. Looks like it will run from 8-1am so I'm sure it will be a party. The directions can be found here. ...

Since it's been a little slow around here why don't you enjoy this. Stay until the end. Anybody have any good stuff I should be mentioning?? ...

About a month back I was asked to be the juror for Orange Coast College's annual student photography exhibition. Well tonight was the opening and the awards ceremony so I headed on over to make an appearance and hand out some awards. For those that have been reading for awhile you know these things aren't a favorite thing to do because I always feel like I want to pick more winners than allowed and I don't want to leave anyone out, especially since anybody involved...

I'm headed to Vegas, so no posts till Monday. In the meantime why don't you entertain yourself with this review of the current show at the Office. In case I havent mentioned it. The Carrie Yury/Amandine Piomelli show has, by popular demand been extended to the 16th. Wish me luck. ...

I was having lunch yesterday with a curator and the very interesting topic of old snapshot collecting came up. I got quite the education on what people are fanatical about when it comes to collecting old snap shots and found photographs. Everything from post-mortem photography, hot-rod culture, gay-interest to even old halloween pics are hot right now. Interesting stuff. So after that discussion I'm bummed I'm going to miss out on this Charles Phoenix Slide Show happening this weekend in Brea. But you should go. ...

Heads-up time. This Saturday local artist Alvin Gregorio who is in residency at The Shed will be having an Open Studio. It will take place from 5-8pm at 3000 Newport Blvd. in Newport Beach. Call 949-723-3406 for all the details. I will be in Vegas but you shouldn't miss it. ...

I know I'm dating myself but I'm psyched I get to see one of my all time favorites tomorrow night, Echo & the Bunnymen. Any other old farts going? ...

Artinfo has a nice post on how some of the LA Galleries did at Aqua. Way to go Carlee. ...

First Wednesday is fast approaching so that means .ISM Quarterly will be doing their thing at The Lab. I hear they have been drawing quite a crowd. Going to have to check it out soon. ...

Well it's Over. I was going to write a little something about: 1. All the blogger hype about being on-site and in the action and then the big No-Show. 2. The new idea that the powers that be will be selling you. That what's happening at fairs are more than sales figures...

Ran up to Santa Ana last night w/Ed Giardina to catch the Oral Fixation show. It was great to see that DIY attitude again back in SA. Now that the Lofts are in the 800K range and all the rents have skyrocketed most galleries and artists have left for greener pastures. It was also interesting to take Ed out there. He was one of the early pioneers of the artists village with Edward Giardina Contemporary Art and the original Raid Projects. Their first location was...

Last night I got an unexpected invite to go with the FS crew on a road trip up to LA to catch a couple of shows. It was rainy and everybody was in Miami so there wasn't much to do but we managed before we headed back to HB and Brian wiped me and my regular crew out in our weekly poker tourney. Some foto's follow: The FS Crew, Ed & Brian. Holly Topping @ Angles If you're in Venice you are bound to run...

This one includes Scope & Aqua. Nice Job Artinfo. Update: MAO does Scope and Aqua Update #2: More sales scoop Update #3: Artnet's turn ...

So, now I know why everyone wants to be an artist! For those of you that say there is so much bad art out there. Now you know why. ...

Artinfo launched a blog. and it looks like they're going to actually talk about art and sales (be careful that could get you into trouble, I know). Most informative one going so far. La Dauphine is talking art too. ...
