First off I hoped to have some photos from Saturday night openings but I came down with the flu bug that is going around. Not good, sorry about that. Now on to new biz. Classes are starting up again all over the southland and that means that University Galleries are going to start kicking into gear. Ran up to Santa Monica tonight to catch Mark Dutcher's show at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. The show looked great! It was a really nice to see his work with one of his greatest influences, Philip Guston. It was also nice to see a good OC turn out up north. Received a notice today from Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects that they will no longer be sending paper invites. They are going to all e-mail invitations. Is this a more effective/efficient way of connecting to your audience or an attempt do away with a large cost to the gallery? Will other galleries follow suit? Is the art card as we know it doomed.
