Here's some photos of the event before I had to leave: 6am set up time. The finished product Artist Matthew Furmanski Furmanski's riff on McCracken. I was told McCracken surfed...

This is too great not to report now. On july 1st Grand Central Art Center will be opening Blight at The End of The Funnel works by Ed Colver. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been sliding into the summer schedule. So what does that mean?? Well here's my list of what I'm going to do (or hope to do) this summer vacation: 1. Surf more. 2. On July 14th I play my first ever World Series of Poker event in Vegas. Yes I'm going for a bracelet. If I do well in that event I might even take a shot at the main event. 3. Still trying to talk Mrs. OC Art Blog...
The OC Weekly has a great article about longtime Wedge legend Ron Romanosky's Saturday night slide show at J. Moore Gallery in Seal Beach. Jeff at J. Moore does all my framing and is one cool dude. I'm not the only one who uses him, you always see interesting work when you go in to drop off or pick up. Highly recommended. Ron's opening will run from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Check it out. ...

Compartriots for several years, and this being their first museum exhibition of showing together exclusively, Pervasion explores how both artists are at the forefront of blurring the lines between fine art, toy culture and other forms of media. Each has created unique characters that originate within densely packed imagery found in their paintings and sculptures, such as Baseman’s Toby, or Biskup’s Helper. These characters then become motifs...

Hope everybody had a nice weekend and hopefully you found a nice museum or gallery to go stay cool in. This last Saturday Mrs. OC Art Blog and I were paid a visit by the Laguna Art Museum's Contemporary Collectors Council. It was a lot of fun to give a little tour and talk about all the art that we have collected to date, both the works we really have grown to love as well as the mistakes we have made (or I have made...
It's first Saturday so that means Santa Ana's Artist Village will be the place to be. Looks like there will be lots to see and do. Also, don't forget about the Arden2 opening on Sunday. Also, I have the Laguna Art Museum Collector's Council coming to the house on Saturday to check out my stuff so I'm sure I'll blog about that...

OCMA opens the Catherine Opie show on Sunday. Unfortunately it sounds like her early portrait work will not be included in the show. My question with the later work has always been, "is there anything new here?" Go check it out and find out. ...
