The OC Art Blog was created in 2004 as a way to build community and promote the marginalized but dynamic Orange County art scene.

Ran over to the Torrance Art Museum for the first time tonight to say hi to Mark Dutcher and David Ross and catch the Telling show. Nice space with some progressive programming so I'm sure you'll be hearing more about them soon. After that we jammed across town to catch the Impression/Ism show at the Brea Gallery. This Saturday night the Brea Gallery will open Impression/Ism. The opening will run from 7-9pm and there's going to be a bunch of great artists involved. Contributing artists include: Tony Berlant, Jane Callister, Sherie' Franssen, Jeff Koegel, Laura Owens, Monique Prieto & others.This exhibition examines contemporary Impressionism and its emphasis on the urban experience. On Saturday Mrs. OCArtBlog and myself ran down to Laguna to catch the Godfather of appropration art Richard Pettibone's show at LAM. We then headed over to the Godfather of the local scene's gallery and also attempted to say hi to  Sue Greenwood but neither Sue or Peter were working on this sunny Saturday. Ran over to Boxed 2.1 at The Beall to catch KnifeandFork's 5 'til 12 exhibit before it came down. It had something to do with evolutionary algorithms & game theory but that stuff makes me think of math, and even though I'm officially in the tech industry, math sucks. Jocelyn Foye will be at it again this Sunday night. Starting at 7pm, Two grecco-roman style wrestlers will match for 6 minutes on a 12' diametered circular clay mat. Shown with the performance will be the mat that was created from the first match, made of latex and foam. The opening will run from 5-8pm and the match will start at 7pm.
