The OC Art Blog was created in 2004 as a way to build community and promote the marginalized but dynamic Orange County art scene.

This is a reminder post that after you go to the Office opening this Saturday night we also have something for you to do on Sunday. Come on over and meet my crazy in-laws, I know you want to. It looks like this ongoing project by FS has been curated into a show by Meg Cranston that will open at the Riverside Museum sometime in the spring. So you might even have a chance to see yourself documented on a museum wall...

Tired of hearing about John Waters yet?? Last one I promise. The LA Times went to the opening party. ...

Mark your calendars!! This Saturday night is the opening for Carrie Yury who will be showing a new series of work created for The Office dealing with plastic surgery and the search for perfection in obsessed Southern California. You might remember Carrie from the last  California Biennial where she was part of Mads Lynnerup's band Fashion Island. She has lots of skills.. The Office will also feature French artist Amandine Piomelli in the project room where she'll be showing recent work from her Imaginary Biology...

Unfortunately I won't be attending the opening party for the John Waters show at OCMA because of an annual Halloween party I attend every year but I have to admit all this John Waters talk has inspired this years costume. We are hitting the map so to speak. The LA Times has the whole story. ...

As a follow up to my John Waters @ OCMA post. I also wanted to let you know that running concurrently with that show will be the work of Swiss artist Fabrice Gygi. This show will run through March and it is open to the public starting on Sunday the 30th. Enjoy! The works of Swiss artist Fabrice Gygi take the form of site-specific installations, large-scale sculptures, and functional public structures that reference the often unnoticed architecture of authority in urban environments. Many of his...

Last year when we participated in artLA we had a booth next to Paul Kopeikin Gallery. So we got to spend the better part of the weekend hanging out with Paul. Both Mrs. OCArtBlog and I found him to be very friendly and funny. Unlike some insecure gallery people who will remain nameless. Anyway, I got an email from Paul about a benefit he is holding for his daughter's school and I feel compelled to spread the word. I'm sure there will be some quality photographs...

This afternoon is the official unveiling of the new Arts Plaza at UCI designed by Maya Lin. The LA Times made a visit and has the story here. ...
