The OC Art Blog was created in 2004 as a way to build community and promote the marginalized but dynamic Orange County art scene.

Rebecca Schoenkopf visits the Greater LA MFA Exhibition and writes about it here. Liz Goldner visits LAM's "While Pollock was Sleeping" and writes about it here. Hilary Smith visits with Christopher Schulz and writes about it here. (In case you were wondering...

This weekend is first Saturday again so that means Santa Ana will be the place to be. One show in particular you should try and catch is the Inanimate Souls show at Memphis @ the Santora. Dirk Petchul will be showing his photographic work and all proceeds from the sales of the first prints will go to the Orange County Children's Therapeutic Art Center. There also will be a Dinner with the Artist Fundraiser on Sept. 22. Contact OCCTAC for more info. Have a good weekend...

Didn't make it to any shows this weekend so for those of you looking for some meaty art post I'm going to send you over here. I've been doing that a lot lately...

This was just too good not to post. "Pat Robertson should still know that you can't go on national television and talk about taking out world leaders while holding a Bible in your hand. Everyone knows that's the President's job." Via OC Legend ...

The news is coming out early on the big December art fairs. Line-up's can be found here and here. OC Art Blog Prediction: $75 oil, rising interest rates, housing bubble burst, lots of articles on the HOT art market/collecting art this year only means that late December is when the "Where did the art buyers go?" articles start coming out. Look for Scope Houston in 2006...

Being in HB nudged between Long Beach and OC I take notice of what local schools around here are active in the local art scene and I would have to say hands down Cal State Long Beach is the winner. I run into those students everywhere. I wish I could say the same about some other OC schools. Anyway, why don't we all return the favor and go support their little shindig this weekend called the Greater LA MFA Exhibition. Greater LA MFA features approximately...

The last time I had done any acting in any theatrical production was when I got the coveted lead role of Santa Claus in my 3rd Grade holiday play, after peaking so early I thought it was time to hang it up...

Headed over to SoundWalk 2005 in Long Beach tonight and It was great time. There was a great crowd and I ran into a few familiar faces like Michele Jaquis, xtine and Carrie Yury. If you missed it you can still catch part of the show at Koo's, otherwise make sure you don't miss it next year. Some photos follow: All Ages Peek at the Queen Mary Sound Bike xtine's Mozart Effect. Yesterday I passed on the surf and headed up north to meet Mark Dutcher at his Culver City studio. Had the opportunity to see his new work and hang out and talk for a while. I'm very excited to report that we'll get a chance to see some of this new work in the OC early next year at The Office. More on that later. After leaving Mark's I headed over to MOCA to catch the Basquiat show. The interview film downstairs is a must...

Hit the beach today then went over to the artists village for lunch and caught Exquisite Electric and the Bird Show at GCAC. Both shows were good.
