About Palindrome
We (Santa Ana 7) propose a survey of more recent history through a trilogy of installation/performance oriented projects to be on view starting April 16th at The Office. The project(s) loosely address the impact of religion, geography, and film as they relate to an enclave as diversified a place as Southern California.
Palindrome refers to the word pop, as it is read backward and forward, coded and re-coded but still meaning the same thing. We are a society that is intensely aware of itself, an entire population hypnotized by our own reflection. A place and population obsessed with how history is read and interpreted while busily erasing it as fast as possible. Just as Rome evolved its own collapse, we have found relationships between the early history of California, its development and potential paths to its degradation.
