Favorite Painting??

Favorite Painting??

Tyler over at MAN was musing earlier about his favorite painting in America and his favorite American painting so I thought I would throw in my two cents……remember this can change at anytime but right now I would go with:

Don’t need to look any further than MOMA

Vangogh Yeah I know it’s over exposed,….but have you ever stood in front of it…alone….when it was quiet?

American Paintings:

Pollock This here painting, and others like it, changed the art world as we knew it at the time. NYC owes him a big debt.

Warhol and this guy is still a huge influence everywhere.

in the latter two cases you seem to make a “teacher’s choice”. you choose the paintings that made a difference in the way other artists created. this appears to me as a sign that something is wrong. i mean, this is the way one could judge in many other areas, scientific, business, technology, politics, but arts? what sort of an argument is it that someone has a “huge inluence everywhere”? how about you? what sort of inluence has it got on you? why would YOU love to have it in your living room, or garage, or bathroom, or gallery?

Actually, the painting I hang in my bathroom is this one:

but as you can see that choice would not have garnered much respect from my blog peers nor has it had much influence on the art world I live in or the many artists I associate with for that matter.
And anyway tomorrow my favorite painting will be this one:

    I hope you understand.
