Running out to Dallas for a quick trip so you're getting the report now. Looks like a couple of things to see this weekend. The Santiago Art District has an art walk this Saturday night. Go to the website for participating galleries.   The Artery opens What Remains Featuring several artists including Andrew Dunn and Heather Wright and there will be music.

I'm happy to report Kurt Weston who was a recipient of a Hoff Foundation grant recently will be having a show this Saturday at the west gallery on campus at CSUF. The opening will run from 6-9pm.

Early heads-up. There's a couple of shows this weekend in OC and a couple of OC artists showing in LA. You should have plenty to do on Saturday! Eoin Breadon & Jason Chakravarty at @Space Modern Day Characters @ J. Flynn OC based artist Yasuko will be at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica OC Luminaries Sherie' Franssen & Tyler Stallings will be at Jancar Gallery in LA for a one night only show.

It's that time again sound artists. Soundwalk has put out their call for artists for the 5th annual event taking place in Sept. Every year it seems to be getting better and better so get on it and join the fun.

This Saturday night the crew at ISM: gallery will be opening their new show Shudder. The opening will run from 7-10pm and I'm sure there will be a big crowd. This Thursday night from 7-8:30 pm Diana Ferrone Gallery opens a show of new work by Suzan Woodruff. You'll find Suzan's work on the March/April cover of art Ltd. Check it out.

The new Santa Ana based Digital Media Center will have it's first opening tomorrow night (Tues) from 6-9pm. The inaugural exhibit will feature 15 pieces from local digital artists including Jeff Alu, Rex Bruce, Pete Jackson and others. For more information about the DMC go here.

  This is Amanda McGinnis she is 22. She is trying to do something about the dearth of spaces in Orange County showing contemporary art so she took matters into her own hands and is having an opening this weekend in Seal Beach. This Saturday night I attended the Laguna Art Museum's annual fundraising art auction. It was a good time as usual, lot's of friends out and about. The Peter Blake mafia was in full force in the room and on the walls. It seemed that the quality of work donated this year was really strong, the problem though is that we are in Orange County and when the quality is high so are the estimates which tend to scare off the more pedestrian art buyers here in OC. Next Saturday night the 16th, The Laguna Art Museum will host it's annual art auction. Auction 100 will have 100 works of art by 100 artists and most of the works available are now online. The event will run from 6-10pm and tickets are $125. Get out there and support your local museum.  

It seems you will now be able to take care of your art jones every Saturday night. The Santora Arts Building will now be open every Saturday night from 7 to 10pm hosting Art Blast! and will hold different events and it looks like live music will be part of the equation. This Saturday night Human Resource opens @ the Artery which is located in The Lab. The opening will run from 7-10pm.

Wanted to let everybody know the very popular CSULB Painting teacher and great artist Marie Thibeault has a show coming up in LA soon. Marie Thibeault: Keeping Things Whole opens at Jancar Gallery on Feb 16th. The opening will run from 5-7pm.

  This Wednesday night from 6-9pm Cypress College will open iCandy: Current Abstraction in Southern California. Looks like a really strong roster of painters that will include Ali Smith, Brian Boyer, Tim Bavington & Michael Reafsynder. I will be there and I hope to see you too.
