Was just going through email after reading Mat Gleason's post on Raid Projects on his blog. And I received a press release from Raid that had this to say at the end of the release....I think it might be time to call shenanigans! Raid Projects is a not for profit artist-run project space and curatorial organization that is dedicated to promoting the exchange of cultural products and ideas through various curatorial models on a regional, national and international basis.

Interesting article in the L.A. Times this morning. It seems that Laura Zucker is starting a new non-profit funded by the Broad Foundation called Arts + Culture LA. The mission of this new group will be to promote LA internationally and domestically as an outstanding arts destination. One of the benefits of doing artLA was the opportunity to meet many people I had only know about from a distance. One example would be Samantha Fields and her posse over at Zero Degrees Art. Samantha has a bunch of pictures up from the show so go check it out.

In preparation for the Beautiful Losers show about to open at OCMA. The OC Weekly has done a cover story on board art. With the recent press and the show about to open...it's got me thinking. Does anybody else see the similarities between the "Board Art" movement and the East Village scene now being revisited at The New Museum?? Ran up to Photo LA today to take a quick peek. Lot's of good stuff but man was it packed. I'm glad that artLA is going to be a little more spread out and I'm hopeful that as many people attend. Anyway, all the big names were there but my personal favorite was Michael Garlington's wall (pictured) over at Stephen Cohen's booth.
