OC Art Blog TV

Tonight I ran down to the HB Art Center to catch the new show City Reconsidered. Kudos to curator Darlene DeAngelo for pulling together a great show, especially for a long time resident of HB like myself. Couple of stand outs were Mary Dessert's timeline project and the work by the mysterious artist collective LAC.

In these uncertain times when galleries are closing left and right and it's getting harder and harder to show, especially in Orange County. It's going to be up to the artists to get creative about showing their work. Below is a perfect example, Diana Markessinis turned a yoga studio into a gallery for a night with positive results. Here's a little vid I did of some art openings over in Santa Ana tonight. Artists in order are Yun Bai at OCCCA, the Kustom Kulture show at GCAC and Dylan Bartlett at the Memphis Gallery.

On Saturday night Mrs. OC Art Blog and I headed over to the art walk at the Santiago Art District. It was our first time there and we had a nice time. Looks like there's going to be something to do the 3rd Saturday now. Looks like weekends in OC are filling up and it's nice to see. Here's the vid:

While I was out and about last night I had the opportunity to ask a few people involved in our local scene if they thought there was a recession coming and what that mean't for the Orange County art scene:

Hooray! OCAB TV is back with a vengeance. Here's a quick vid of Saturday nights activities. First stop was Kurt Weston's show at CSUF and then to the Exit Gallery on campus at CSUF. After that I went over to see the Eoin Breadon and Jason Chakravarty show at @space and last but not least was J Flynn gallery for the opening of Modern Day Characters. Enjoy:

I've been watching a lot of New Art TV lately. They do a really nice job of getting out and about. It's New York centric of course but they have a lot of good artist profiles and studio visits. Examples include visits with Joy Garnett and Dana Schutz. Some of you may remember my attempt at Art TV called OC Art Blog TV. I would like to kick that back up but need some help. Any budding film/TV Production students out there want to build a resume?? Please contact me. I need help.
