It's time to shake off the holiday blues and get out there and support your local scene. I'll keep it simple for you and give you three things to do Saturday night: First off is Joel Heflin at The Office. Yes you have to go. Glenn Stern opens at SolArt. Alvin Gregorio closes out his residency at the Shed with a party. Call for details. Keep it safe out there. ...

I just got an email that reminded me that I forgot to let you all know that two of Orange County's own will be participating in a discussion this Saturday at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Starting at 2pm there will be an informal discussion between artist Jeff Koegel and curator Tyler Stallings. Both will be discussing Jeff's current exhibit at PMCA titled Real Estate. Jeff's show closes on the 8th so this could be your last chance. Go support the home team. ...

I'm happy to report that today I approved The Office's first ever ad in Artforum. Yeah? well I'm excited about it. I'm also happy that Mark didn't want to use an image. It makes it just a little more affordable. Anyway, look out for the Feb issue of Artforum where, believe it or not, Orange County will be representing. Oh, and be sure to come out to the show, it's going to be a great one. ...

Hello Everybody. Paris was great but freezing, glad to be back in the wet and cold of So. Cal. Anyway, I hope you're all well rested and ready for the first must not miss art event of the new year. This Saturday Joel Heflin opens his Found Measure Project at The Office. The Opening will run from to 6-9pm and all the details can be found here and here. Luckily sunny weather is predicted. Hope to see you all there. ...

Some landmarks for you. Who says it doesn't snow in Paris?? One of the (many) things I love about Europe is how they treat art as a vital part of life. This shot was taken at the Palais de Tokyo, that is work by LA based artist Sarah Morris in the background. How many children tours do you see at contemporary art spaces in the States?? Sure you'll find them at the bigger institutions here and there but not at the more difficult contemporary...

We're going to be taking off to Paris soon so no more posts until after the New Year. I want to wish everybody Happy Holidays and I hope 2006 is a great year for you all. Peace. ...

It's official. The Office now has a New Website!!! Many thanks to Mr. Ed Giardina for all his time and effort. While I'm at it I'm also updating the email and snail mail lists here at the Office so if you would like to be added please shoot me an email at choff (at) 2roads.com. Feedback appreciated. ...

Ran down to Newport at lunch to check in on Alvin Gregorio who is in residency at the Shed. The work looks great. He'll be having a closing party on Jan 7th from 5-12pm so you'll have plenty of time to go to The Office and the Shed that same night. Also be sure to watch for Alvin at The Office in Oct. 2006. Some photos follow: For all the NYC'ers. This is why I live in HB. It's the officially the first day of...

The artLA exhibitor list is up. In other fair news both Pulse and Scope will be holding fairs during the Armory Fair and for the first time Scope will be moving out of the Hotel room set up and move to a real fair type set up. Word on the street is that they are really trying to recruit a solid LA contingency for the big weekend in NYC. Are you going? ...

For those of you jonesing for an art opening have no fear. Tomorrow night you can go celebrate the winter solstice with BC Space in Laguna. They'll be having an opening for their current show For Shame. Looks like it'll start at sundown and run till they get tired. Many artists will be participating I'm sure. Check it out. ...

Some of you may remember my Laguna Art Museum Auction Post where I told you I picked up a piece called "City Escape" (see photo) by an artist named Leigh Peffer. At the time Mrs. OCArtBlog and I didn't know anything about the artist but liked the photo so we made a winning bid. Anyway, I was just notified by artist Janice Tieken that Leigh is actually in a show currently at the Riverside Art Museum titled Nevermore. The show runs until Jan. 7th...

Sorry no posts for awhile. Typepad was down and actually I was kinda happy about that because I really don't have anything to report as we head into the Holiday's. So I thought in my boredom I would bore you too and give you an art tour of where I spend my days. If you go to the collecting archive you can get a pretty good idea of what I have hanging at home but I'm sure at least one of you (my mom maybe)...

Thanks to Radha over at The Art Hub for giving me a heads-up about their big event this weekend. Friday night the Art Hub will be hosting Rock Stars & Pin-Ups, a solo photo exhibit by Maggie St. Thomas. Looks like it will run from 8-1am so I'm sure it will be a party. The directions can be found here. ...

Since it's been a little slow around here why don't you enjoy this. Stay until the end. Anybody have any good stuff I should be mentioning?? ...

About a month back I was asked to be the juror for Orange Coast College's annual student photography exhibition. Well tonight was the opening and the awards ceremony so I headed on over to make an appearance and hand out some awards. For those that have been reading for awhile you know these things aren't a favorite thing to do because I always feel like I want to pick more winners than allowed and I don't want to leave anyone out, especially since anybody involved...
